About us.
Having started his apprenticeship in Hamilton at just 17, Jack brings over 11 years of hands-on experience and a deep passion for craftsmanship to every project. Starting his own business allowed him the flexibility to travel and explore, while still dedicating himself fully to building homes he can be proud of.
Based in Mount Maunganui, we proudly service the Bay of Plenty, Waikato, and Coromandel regions. Our team has varied in size over the years, working with a close network of skilled builders and contractors, so whenever extra hands are needed on site, we can call on trusted support. Our boutique approach combines personal service, transparent communication, and meticulous attention to detail.
From renovations and alterations to bespoke new builds, our goal is to make the process straightforward, stress-free, and enjoyable – so you can focus on the excitement of transforming your space. At Zephyr Construction, every home we create reflects careful planning, contemporary design, and a commitment to quality that you can trust.
Zephyr Construction began in 2020, when Jack Jellyman moved to Mount Maunganui with a clear vision: to create homes that are thoughtfully designed, expertly built, and uniquely tailored to each client.
Our values.
Trustworthy
We deliver with integrity, standing firmly behind every project we complete.
Approachable
We’re a friendly, down-to-earth team of builders who make the building process simple and stress-free, delivering top service.

Our team combines licensed expertise with hands-on experience and a commitment to doing things right.
Quality
We deliver exceptional results by paying close attention to the details that make every project truly stand out.
With over a decade of hands-on building experience, we’re proud to be a Licensed Building Practitioner (LBP), giving you confidence that every project meets New Zealand’s highest standards. For us, it’s not just about ticking boxes – it’s about delivering work we can stand behind.
We take real pride in the details, from solid foundations to the finishing touches, ensuring your home is built with the same care and quality we’d want for our own families.
-
Some renovations require council consent (e.g., structural changes, plumbing, drainage, or electrical work). If consent is needed, we can help guide the process or work with your architect/designer to prepare the application.
-
You can be as involved as you like. Most clients meet with us and the designer to choose layouts, fixtures, finishes, and materials. The more decisions made early, the smoother the build will be.
-
Both cost and timeframes depend on the size and complexity of your project, your material choices, consent requirements, and any changes made along the way. You’ll receive an estimate or quote and an expected timeline before work begins, and we will keep you updated on any variations, delays, or budget changes throughout the process.
-
We offer workmanship guarantees and pass on all product warranties.
-
Renovations typically follow a staged payment schedule, for example, deposit, progress payments, and final payment upon completion. Your contract will outline all payment terms.
-
We organise and manage all subcontractors such as electricians, plumbers, plasterers, and painters, ensuring they work to schedule and standard.
